I’m a uber geek when it comes to ride data, I like knowing how fast, how far, how much power and I love tech devices particularly the latest from Wahoo Fitness in this case the RFLKT. The Wahoo RFLKT pronounced reflect is the world's first iPhone powered bike computer! All the power of your iPhone is now in the size of a sleek cycling computer so says Wahoo Fitness. The RFLKT is a great option for the iPhone 4S, 5 and 5S owners to use their phone as a cycling computer without taking up bar space for a clean look and keep that costly iPhone safely stowed in your jersey pocket or pack. Since the screen on the phone is turned off the battery will last many hours longer than when the phone is in protective case like the Wahoo Fitness PROTKT.

With the Wahoo Fitness RFLKT the user can choose how much or how little information they choose to view and how they view it on customizable screens called pages. A page can have one to six fields of information, you choose. There are several ready-made pages to choose from or the user can fully customize the pages up to eleven in each profile/set and also the order of those pages. Furthermore the RFLKT can display different page sets for different activities for those like me to satisfy their OCD. Example for Road Cycling I have a set of pages that differs than what I have for a MTB ride. For each page profile the user can also set up a triggered screen(s), based on an action like hitting the button like the lap or when a new song starts. All of us all at Cross Bike Review do not recommend that you ride outside with ear buds in ever.

Customization of the RFLKT goes a step further, the four buttons 2 on each side can be set to do the action you desire. Want the lap button to be top right not bottom left, you got it. I have mine set up so I can not stop the workout timer with the RFLKT I have to use the iPhone, with other devices I have inadvertently hit the stop button not lap so many times, not anymore with the Wahoo Fitness RFLKT.

Mounting the RFLKT is as simple as it can get too, included are Three mounting option – stem, bar and quarter turn.
Whether you are a road, mountain, or tri enthusiast, RFLKT has a mounting option for you. On my Road and CX bikes like to use a K-edge mount as it centers it in front of the stem, so the Garmin style 2 prong quarter turn adapter is the ticket. Though the Garmin 2 prong is far less secure than the 4 prong that Wahoo Fitness uses for the PROTKT. If you have a 500, 510 you know what I’m talking about so I just epoxied the adapter to the mount and it stays put I can still move the RFLKT from bike to bike as it simply detaches with the included pry bar and snaps right in to the bike I am moving it to.

RFLKT is also never out date I have my iPhone preferences set up to automatically check and update aps including the Wahoo Fitness that the RFLKT uses soon to work with other ride aps as well. So the latest updates and new functions are automatically loaded to the RFLKT when it is powered up. No need to download special software on your computer just to upload new firmware. Uploading your ride data to training tool websites like Training Peaks or Strava, sending files of multiple formats to email or details to social media anytime you have a data connection either phone data or Wifi is just as simple through the Wahoo Fitness ap, no need to connect to a computer. Wahoo!

Works seamlessly with other Wahoo Fitness Bluetooth Smart aka Bluetooth 4.0, BLE like the Blue HR, Blue SC and KICKR. The RFLKT is powered by a single long lasting 2032 coin battery, there is no need for extra charging cables and power packs. So far I have 50 hours on the first battery installed.

We Didn't Like

The buttons are a little hard to push especially with heavier winter gloves, having the RFLKT edges rounded and the buttons at an angle would solve the issue and would give the RFLKT a sleeker look.

Second: Currently is there is no lap by location feature, something I would use a great deal for auto lapping laps in a CX race, Crit or trail sections. The inside scoop is Wahoo is working on it and will be in update sooner than later.

The Final Say

The Wahoo Fitness RFLKT harnesses the power of your iPhone 4S – 5S for a fully customizable cycling computer. Choose how much data you want and how you want to see it, even the buttons can be set to do what you want them to do. Why should you have to conform to how a device works make the device work for you the way you want it to work with the Wahoo Fitness RFLKT. With your iPhone stashed in your jersey pocket or pack the screen is off being the largest drain on the phones battery, and since the RFLKT uses Bluetooth Smart technology your iPhone battery last a long time.

Count em, One, Two, Three, Four, Five Cowbells for Wahoo Fitness RFLKT our highest rating!
