We Liked

Over the years we have gotten to know a lot of helmets and Lazer is one of the brands that we are really familiar with. Lazer is mainly focused on safety and that is at the front of their list. With that in mind Lazer found a way to make a light weight, highly ventilated improvement over their helium edition. Here is a list of all of the things that we love about this helmet.

  • Great fit
  • Lots of vents 31
  • Rain cover!
  • Light weight: 220g
  • Extra protection where its needed. More around the temples where you skull is the thinnest.
  • Lots of color styles. 9 Color styles

I love the end strap on this helmet. Lazer uses some really thin and light weight straps. In the past the helmets that we have gotten from them has had loose ends. As I would ride along it would bother me that the ends were loose and would flap around. To fix this I would end up setting the straps and then getting a rubber band and tying it all up. Lazer must have heard my thoughts about this. They ended up putting a nice little rubber end on the straps and made it all nice and neat. Love it!

We Didn't Like

Nothing reflective on the helmet. Why is that?

The Final Say

We get a lot of helmets in and there are a lot of options out on the market. So which one do you get? Well, the Lazer Z1 should be on your short list because of the safety and fit that it offers. They came though not only on these features but they improved the ventilation from previous models. Lazer also gave this one a rain cover or TT cover and they fixed the straps so they are not flapping in the wind. Just about everyone in the helmet game does some type of closure dial on the back of the head. Lazer is thinking outside the box and has the coolest fit system with the dial located on top of the helmet and hidden away. You only need one finger to use it. Others you have to use your hand or 3 to 4 fingers to tighten the helmet on your melon. The Z1 helmet comes in a wide variety of colors to match your team kits or the main color you prefer to wear. The only thing that we think that Lazer didn't put on the helmet was some type of reflective material. I guess they didn't want that to show up with all of flashes going off while you power off the front with their helmet.
