We Liked

It's clear that Specialized put some thought into the design of the Eureka Element Jersey. The jersey incorporates two types of fabric to maximize fit, function and performance. Utilizing their winter Element wind blocker fabric, Specialized placed it in areas that catch the most wind. For low-wind areas and joints, they placed the winterweight Fieldsensor fabric. This allows the wearer to move very easily as if they were wearing a midweight winter jersey but still have the protection and performance of a heavyweight winter jersey. The construction of this winter jersey is first rate! Upon further inspection, you can see the time, effort, and attention to detail that it took to put it together. All of the seams have double flat stitching on them to prevent chafing. The fabric tape over the seam on the collar is branded. Elastic silicone grippers on the bottom of the jersey prevent it from riding up when you are hammering at the front of your local group ride. The large pockets in the back of the jersey are gusseted so they expand to accommodate the stuff you put in them. This makes them very spacious! Tagless labels via screen printing prevent scratchy tag syndrome (STS). With all of this, Specialized didn't forget to give attention to the fit of the Jersey. Specialized designed the Eureka Element Jersey with a racer cut that reminds me of the motorcycle waist jackets. Very cool! Along this design, they also put zippers on the cuffs so you get a nice tight seal to your wrist.

We Didn't Like

The front zipper pocket size is small, so I could only get 3 fingers into it. Perfect for a house key, but not much else. The front zipper itself also needs a larger pull tab on it as it's small and difficult to grab when wet or with a single hand. As the Element is a winter jersey, you will most likely be wearing gloves. So grabbing the zipper pull tab with gloves and getting into the pocket can also be difficult. We would also like to see 3 large pockets in the back instead of 2.

The Final Say

Nice jersey! Tons of thought and features have been incorporated into this winter jersey. The cut and construction along with the fabric selection and performance makes this garment worth the money! I find myself reaching for it time and time again in my winter training.
