Review: Specialized BG Deflect Glove

We Liked

We were pleasantly surprised about the glove's material in that it fits like a second skin while being lightweight, wind and water resistant. While the glove is water resistant, it is not waterproof so please don't get the idea that it is. The Deflect is windproof and water resistant, making it a great performer for the cyclocross season. The cut on the Specialized Deflect utilizes their Body Geometry philosophy which ensures that the glove has excellent fit and won't cause any problems to the user. This translates to non-existent hot spots or numb fingers. If you have these issues while wearing the Deflect, you may be holding on too tight to the handle bars. We loved how light these gloves are! Any cyclist who hates to ride with bulky clothing will really like this glove. With lightweight materials comes increased dexterity. We found that we were able   pick up smaller things with our fingers than we would normally be able to do with heavier gloves that offer the same performance as the Deflect. This glove definitely has that Euro high-dollar look and feel with out the price tag. If your out training in the woods at twilight or you are just coming home from class or work, this glove can help you be seen as the light starts to fade. The Deflect glove has reflective piping on the back of the glove which starts at the thumb/hand junction and goes across the entire back of the glove.

We Didn't Like

The Deflect has a short race car driver cut to it so the glove does not have a cuff. We would like to see a cuff added to this glove for more protection from the elements. Eventhough black goes with everything, we would like to see this glove offered in more colors & graphics options.

The Final Say

This is a great glove and you definitely can't go wrong with having it in your wardrobe. You will reach for this glove time and time again because of it's fit, comfort and functionally. I can see using this glove for most of the year.  Great job Specialized!
