So the other day we got a box from Pearl Izumi and they had sent me their PRO Soft shell jacket. I love soft shell jackets and i was really excited to get this one. The reason is most soft shell jackets are water resistant but the PRO Soft shell is a barrier jacket. That means that it's water proof! Well I got dressed and went out and half way through my initial ride with this jacket it rained and then it snowed on me. Yep this thing is water proof and its warm. So I was really pleased with they way the jacket preformed. The PRO Soft shell jacket has a lot of good features that are unusual in a jacket. For starters it has a thumb/hand cuff. This means that when you put your hand through it it seals off the inside of the jacket from the outside. No cold stuff can get in that way. Most Soft shells have a drawstring at the waist. The PRO Soft shell has one at the top of the collar to prevent water from getting in and heat from getting out. Nice touch! The chest pocket is very generous and you can easily fit your keys and phone in there.

I don't know how they did this but PearlIzumi Soft shell technology gives you a single wind, waterproof and warm fabric layer without the restriction of wearing 3 jackets at the same time. The PRO barrier jacket has updated warmer fabric, increased articulation, chest pocket storage and plenty of reflectivity. I kept reaching for this jacket time and time again in the ever changing winter weather of Portland OR.

Do you need a soft shell jacket that you can use in the Fall, Winter and Spring and still wear to the coffee shop on any day? This just might be the one to get. The Pearl Izumi PRO soft shell jacket is a solid performer in all of these areas. Its wind, water proof with style. Gone are the days of a plastic rain jacket that turns into a green house after 15 min of riding. You can't judge a book by its cover and this jacket fits right into that saying.
