The Final Say

Gore Bike wear has been doing clothing for a bit now and have brought some great fabrics and gear to the outdoor markets. Over the years the fabrics at Gore have evolved with the demands that the consumers have asked for. Their newest jacket the Oxygen 2.0 jacket will sure to be a favorite with cyclist that will race and train hard in inclement weather. We loved the way the Oxygen 2.0 preformed in the cold windy wet conditions. The jacket comes in a few colors of White, Yellow, Red and Black. The only color that we would have like added to the line up is a light blue. The Jacket has a good amount of reflectivity on it to keep you safe. The cuff is the corner stone for the visibility with lots of little reflective dots all around it. Speaking of the cuff, we have yet to see another jacket that has such an extensive cuff. The cuff is long and elastic with silicone all on the inside that has a zipper on it to ensure a close custom fit when zipped closed. However, the cuff is not water proof so make sure that it goes on the outside of your water proof gloves and that it does not touch your jersey or water will get to your jersey and will then go everywhere else via a capillary action. Other nice features are its high collar with an extra amount in the back to cover your neck. All of the zippers on the jacket have a garage to be parked in when the jacket is fully zipped up. The fit is right on for some one with that athletic body. If you are needing to lose some kilos this might not be the best cut for you. Another great feature is the back zippers that are angled to allow you to access your back pockets or allow as air vents if you do get a little warm. In my rides with the jacket the zippers were easy to zip up and down and were perfect for me to access the stuff in my jersey. Well done. Moving down the back of the jacket, the tail has a long heavy silicon strip in the back to keep the tail from riding up. The only way to describe this strip is commercial grade. Its clearly meant to do a job and not be over powered by excessive pulling. Overall the Gor-Tex Active fabric performs advertised. We went on several rides in the rain with out over heating and when we were stopped you could see the steam coming off of the jacket. So if I was to make any changes to the jacket I would make the cuffs water proof and offer it in a light blue. Otherwise the jacket is pretty awesome..
