Review: Bellwether WindFront Tight

The Windfront Tight is a medium to heavy weight garment that is perfect for cold morning commutes or putting in the miles when your competition is still warm in their beds. Bellwether utilized a heavy Roubaix fabric throughout the tights and added wind blocker material to the front panels as part of the design. They also added a soft shell type of material to the knees, which aids in the articulation of the knee joint. For added visibility in low light conditions, the Windfront Tight has a reflective logo on the thigh as well as piping on the ankle zippers. This is always a nice feature to have on tights because every bit of reflective material helps the cyclist to be seen. To pad or not to pad? When the tight is not padded, that gives the flexibility to wear the tights for other activities like running or cross country skiing. However, when the tight is padded, the rider doesn't get to choose shorts to wear underneath. But even worse, if they don't like the pad they are stuck with it. Personally, we are happy to have the flexibility of not having a pad in the Windfront Tight.

We Didn't Like

The hip and lower back panels of the Windfront Tight are not covered with the water resistant fabric which can be an issue with splash and extreme cold. While the fit is better than the Coldfront tight, the leg length needs to be a little longer. Even with a draw string, the tights have a tendency to migrate down during wear. Please make this garment into a bib tight!

The Final Say

With the Bellwether Windfront Tight, you truly get what you pay for. It offers great flexibility in both use and temperature range. This tight does what its suppose to do and it does it pretty well. For those cold windy days when you have to get out on the bike, you will love this tight.
