Review: 2XU Elite Compression Tight

The science community has know about the benefits of compression for more than a few years. The medical world uses them to reduce swelling in limbs (edema). So the science is not new. The technology has now been developed so that its now being applied to athletic performance. So here is how we tested them. We would put them on after a race and make them part of our recovery routine one week and then leave them out of the routine the following week. We would also use them after a hard work out and we can actually feel the difference the next day. We would wear them at night while we slept. I thought that I would be too hot in them but I found that they didn't affect my body temp like I thought they would and I was able to sleep comfortably through the night.

The other thing that I would like to mention is that its been a year. Why? Well one thing about these garments is how long they last and hold up. And I want to say that the durability is the best so far. We washed them with our regular clothing and hung them up to air dry and used them about 2x a week.

We Didn't Like

So was there anything that we didn't like about the tights? Yes, But I will say that its with all compression tights in general and I think that this just goes with the territory. The only thing that I don't like about compression tights is that they require some effort to get them on and off. Now, I know that all of the women that read this are probably thinking to themselves " Welcome to our world" and I just want to say I have a new appreciation for the women that wear any hose and stockings all of the time.

The Final Say

The number one thing that keeps most people from reaching their potential is that they over train and not recover properly. Recovery is probably the most over looked aspect of training currently. Everyone is looking for new kinds of work outs and they just think that if they could just ride more miles that will make all of the difference. WRONG! But not entirely. What usually happens is that we go out and train hard and then we don't eat properly, or get enough sleep etc... then we go out and do the same thing the next day. If you are not recovered from the previous day you will just run yourself into the ground. The 2XU Elite compression tights are a great way to help you recover from the stresses of training. They do their job and they last a long time. You will have to replace them eventually as all clothing does wear out. In this case over time the tights will lose their elasticity and won't offer the same level of compression they did when they were new. However, if you amortize it over a course of a year or more they are cost effective.
